Activating a small business, in four stages

Thirty years ago the trick was getting online at all: a modem, a phone line, a manual thicker than the machine. Now the trick is activation: superintelligence switched on in the places your business already works, so they think and act together. It is four stages, each upgrade built for your business at the speed of super intelligence. A swarm of agents works your problems all at once while we direct and check it, so what took weeks takes days, and by the last stage you are the one holding the controls.

Look

We look, you talk

Agents go through everything your business runs on at once, including the parts nobody remembers setting up, and we tell you where superintelligence would earn its keep first.

What happens

  • A walk-through with whoever runs the day
  • Every place it could act, found and written down

You leave with

A map of where superintelligence would work for you

➜ Next: stage 2, plan

Plan

We plan together

We draw the activation: what switches on first, what stays as it is, and what each part costs a month. You make the calls; we tell you what each one costs you.

What happens

  • Keep, replace or retire, with a cost beside each
  • You choose the order; we price it
If what you already have is fine, the plan says keep it. You are paying for the answer, not for new things.
The rule the whole thing runs on

You leave with · One plan, in an order you could hand to anyone

➜ Next: stage 3, activate

Activate

We switch it on, you check

A swarm of agents switches superintelligence on across the business in parallel, on accounts in your name, while we direct and check every step. Nothing goes live until you have seen it work on your own cases.

What happens

  • Accounts in your name from day one
  • Nothing goes dark while it switches on

You leave with

Your business, activated and connected

Build log · activation
day 1 everything found; three accounts nobody could log into
day 1 the old site moved; nothing went dark
day 2 activated on the inbox and the bookings
day 2 enquiries answered and quoted while you work
day 3 you ran it yourself; handover note written

➜ Next: stage 4, hand back

cover feature · stage 4 of 4

Hand back

You hold the controls

We hand you back one control for all of it, and stay until you can run it without us. Then you choose whether we stay on your accounts to help, as a member you can see and remove, and whether we keep a sealed copy of the work; change either whenever you like. If you want company after that, that is the Help Desk.

Everything in your own name, run from one place. Not a retainer you cannot cancel.
What you leave with

What happens

  • Training until it is yours
  • A handover note for whoever comes after you
  • Your choice: we stay on to help, or leave every account

You leave with

One control, and the notes to run it

➜ Next: the house rules

The first fix is usually something unglamorous that eats an afternoon.

It is rarely the thing that sounded exciting, and it is nearly always the thing that pays for the rest.
